What is a Direct Cremation
An unattended cremation, also known as direct cremation or unattended funeral, is an alternative to a traditional funeral where there is no formal service and there are no family or mourners present for the cremation.

What’s Included?
We will arrange an unattended cremation and inform you of the date and time of when the cremation will take place. Like a traditional funeral service, we will be responsible for making sure the necessary paperwork is completed, caring for your loved one up until their cremation, including preparation and transport to the crematorium, as well as the safe return of their ashes.
You would not be able to attend the cremation or decide when and where the cremation takes place.

Our dedicated and empathetic funeral arrangers at Payne & Sons Funeral Directors will look after you and your family throughout the direct cremation process.
You will be in touch with the same person throughout the arrangements and if you are local to our funeral home, you can arrange a face-to face visit or we can arrange a home visit. This is where our service differs from some Direct Cremation providers without local Funeral Homes, suitable premises or experienced funeral arrangers to support you during the arrangement.
We will collect your loved one and transport them in our modern specialist ambulance to your funeral home of choice.
Your loved one will rest in our modern facilities, where you can arrange to visit your loved one at our private chapel of rest.
Our team will keep you informed and answer any questions or queries you may have regarding direct cremations; this will include the time and date the cremation is taking place. You have the option to dress your loved one in their own clothes.
After the cremation, when you are ready, you can arrange with our team to collect your loved one’s ashes, at one of our local funeral homes. We can also arrange for the ashes to be sent to you.
An unattended cremation has no formal funeral service and the cremation is usually unattended, leaving you to say goodbye to your loved on in your own way. Once you receive your Loved One’s ashes, you have the freedom to arrange a personal memorial at a time and location which best suits your family.

Funeral Finance
Funeral Finance is a helping hand to pay for the funeral of your loved one, so you can concentrate on the important things. Pay in full within 3 months at no extra cost.

We work with a specialist consumer credit company, Funeral Safe Finance, who may be able to offer you credit to pay for part or all of the funeral cost (from £500 up to £7,500). Funeral Safe Finance is available over terms of 1 – 5 years with (fixed) APR rates from 15.9% – 24.9% based on circumstances.. You can pay in full within 3 months at no extra cost. Credit available subject to credit assessment, UK resident status and the applicant must be aged 21 years and over. Funeral Safe Limited of Alton Business Centre, Valley Lane, Wherstead, Suffolk, IP9 2AX. Funeral Safe Ltd is the lender and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Terms and Conditions
*Please Note: The Direct to Cremation Inclusive Package (no funeral service) includes the unattended cremation fee at the local Westerleigh Crematorium and excludes all other disbursements and third-party costs; doctors’ fees, or extras such as flowers. Other products and services such as embalming, dressing in own clothes, collection of deceased outside of hours, collection and transportation of ashes, scatter tube can be added at the fees shown on full price list.
Restrictions apply including no choice of the day, date and time of the cremation. If an alternative unattended crematorium is requested a discount of £275 will apply to standard fees shown on full price list. Coffin upgrade options are available, a discount of £100 will apply to the standard coffin prices on full price list. This is a temporary package offer.
